I was born in 1950 in northern New Jersey to parents who appreciated and encouraged my interest in art. With a plentiful supply of crayons, paper and paint, I spent my early days drawing, painting and “making things”. Growing up close to Metropolitan New York, I was privileged to visit the major museums on school outings and as I grew older I explored the galleries of New York City. After graduating from high school, I went on to study at Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida where I majored in Graphic Design and Illustration. Those were some of the most wonderful years of my life. I spent my days studying and practicing both fine and commercial art. My classes at Ringling included an intensive curriculum of drawing, painting, landscape, portrait, figure and color theory as well as the more technical aspects of designing, type and illustration for print. During the 25 years following my graduation, I worked as an art director and designer for a number of firms in Tampa, Florida; Tulsa Oklahoma and finally New Jersey where I opened my own design firm. My career in the Fine Arts began when I lived in Tulsa and began showing my pen and ink drawings and watercolors in several galleries there. While living in Tulsa, I served on the council at a city operated art center called Johnson Atelier where I had the opportunity to explore all sorts of mediums from hand thrown pottery to intaglio printmaking. Upon moving to New Jersey, I continued to show my watercolor paintings at Kerygma Gallery in Ridgewood. I began to enter my work in competitions and was included in a number of national open shows both in New Jersey and across the country. From New Jersey, I moved to New Mexico where I began to paint full time and added digital photo montage to my mediums. During my cross country travels, I stopped frequently along the roadways and took many photographs. Not being satisfied with straight photography, I found more inspiration in the mixing of images to create more unique, manipulated compositions. Now I live in New Braunfels, TX and I am a member of various groups including the New Braunfels Art League, the National Watercolor Society, the Oil Painters of America and the San Antonio Watercolor Group. Currently I’m working in four primary mediums: watercolor, acrylic, oil and digital photo collage/montage. Recently, I've moved into an inspiring new studio space which I share with the talented western artist, Brigitte Woosley. It's a wonderful little historic cabin and I love painting there.
